| SYSTEM ANALYST (GIS SPECIALIST) Specialist candidate will perform system analysis related tasks on GIS projects as well as project management tasks and project administration related tasks. The responsibilities include: • Coordination of technical support and ensuring technical stability of GIS applications. • Execution of technical investigations, impact analysis and compilation of project proposals, user requirements analysis (URS), system deliver specifications (functional spec), technical system designs (technical spec) and test plans. • Team leadership and project leadership for GIS assignments. • Communication with all relevant parties and quality assurance. • Manage the SDLC of GIS applications. • Assist with consulting on system integration of BI and GIS systems. • Provide applicable training and mentorship to fellow team members. REQUIREMENTS • Candidate must be able to work as Team and be delivery focused, pragmatic, team player • He/She must be able to communicate effectively and professionally across a range of disciplines and levels within the organization. • Analysis and solutions seeking - must be able to assess situations quickly and drill down to the core of the problem. • Ideas generation - ability to generate pragmatic low-risk potential solution • Client focus - key focus on providing a first-class service to the core customer base. • Professionalism - must be willing to work the hours necessary to ensure delilvery. QUALIFICATIONS • Bsc Computer Science or Bsc Geography • Min.3 year National Diploma in Information Technology • Five years as a System Analyst or Senior Analyst Programmer • Executed at least 2 large GIS projects as System Analyst-GIS • Experience in GIS computer applications and technologies • Proven experience in the application of quality assurance principles, project management principles, including the drafting of project proposals, URS and test plans and procedures. • Some experience in GIS Application Development Experience in working 1 or more of the following GIS technologies will be an advantage: • ArcGIS 9.x, ArcIMS, ArcSDE • Oracle Spatial • Oracle 10g • GeoMedia Pro, GeoMedia Webmap • MapInfo Pro, MI2GO, MapExtreme • Autodesk Mapguide • Be capable of providing consultancy on GIS needs through presentations, planning and implementing the GIS Best Practices. • Must have excellent interpersonal and report writing skills. • Must have excellent Team Building Skills necessary for large GIS Projects KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS • In conjunction with technical personnel, compile the project proposals, user requirements analysis (URS), system deliver specifications (functional spec), technical system designs (technical spec) and test plans. • Formal and informal communication with all relevant parties (project team and client) throughout the SDLC. • Understanding of conceptual entity models and translating it into physical data models. (Relational and object-relational) • Quality assurance during SDLC • Manipulate GIS data using any of the recognized GIS platforms. • Providing production support for a specific application or group of applications. • Problem analysis, fixing, testing and promotion to production environment. • Ensuring the finished product meets the design objectives and any other appropriate criteria associated with the original request. • Producing complete and accurate documentation for work based on current documentation standards. • Broadening own technical and functional skill base. • Ensuring knowledge transfer and mentoring to project team members • Effective user interaction is part of the job requirement.
